LOCAL THROW DOWN

Welcome back!

Following the success of last year’s Local Throw Down tournament, we are excited to announce that it’s back for 2025—this time with two rounds. The feedback from schools and players was so positive that we’ve decided to run this event twice in the school year.

We would love to invite your school to take part in one or both tournaments.

Round 1 Details: 

Dates: Friday 6 June – Sunday 8 June 2025
Venue: Hawkes Bay Regional Aquatic Centre 
Entry Fee: $450 + GST per team
This fee covers pool hire, qualified referees, administration, and trophies for division winners.

Game Times:

  • Friday: 3:30 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    Final game times may vary slightly depending on team entries.
 
 

Tournament Overview

  • Open to players in Years 9–13
  • Separate Girls and Boys grades
  • Where entries allow, divisions will be split into:
    • Junior Division (Years 9–10)
    • Senior Division (Years 11–13)
  • Games will follow FINA rules, including use of a 30-second shot clock
  • Full field setup, refereed by qualified officials
 

Registration deadline: Friday 30th May 2025
Late entries may be accepted, but early registration is appreciated to allow for timely scheduling.

We’re committed to helping schools get involved in water polo. If your school needs assistance with:

  • Finding a coach or manager
  • Borrowing gear such as caps
  • Understanding tournament format or expectations
  • Adjusting game times to suit your team!
