1. 5 in the pool at once including goalie

3. FINA rules apply
4. Open to players U14 and up. 
5. Mixed Grades 
6. More than one game a night. 

Why We’re Launching the McGuigan Shield for Fast 5 Fridays

We’re proud to announce that our Fast 5 Fridays will now be known as the McGuigan Shield for Fast 5 Fridays, in honour of one of our most dedicated volunteers and leaders, Ollie McGuigan.

Ollie is the kind of person every club dreams of having — tireless, passionate, and deeply invested in every corner of Hawkes Bay Water Polo. As a current committee member and our Vice Chair, he plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of the club. Whether it’s coaching multiple school teams, leading the U16 Sea Hawkes or the senior women’s Rougettes, or managing grants and funding behind the scenes, Ollie gives his time, energy, and heart to this club — all as a volunteer.

But it’s not just Ollie. The entire McGuigan family is woven into the fabric of our club. All three of his kids are active water polo players, and the family’s collective support, time, and care make a real impact that money simply can’t buy.

Naming Fast 5 Fridays after the McGuigan family is our way of saying a heartfelt thank you — a small gesture to recognise the enormous contribution they continue to make. We hope the McGuigan Shield becomes a lasting tradition, reminding us all of the value of service, community, and the people who make it all possible.
